SINEAD'S GUESTS ON BBC TV-PROGRAM ABOUT CHILD-ABUSE

Sinéad gave "act the presence" in a BBC program called "Child Watch +10". In this program they interviewed lots of people about child-abuse and their experiences. One of the interviewed persons was Sinéad. Sadly I didn't catch the whole program (coincidentally I found it during the "channel-surfing"). But here is what I caught;

Sinéad; The policemen came into the bedroom of my sister and myself, and said "is everything allright?". Now our mother was standing behind them, so we said "yes everything is allright". The clever thing for the policemen to do would have been to get the mother downstairs and then ask the children are they allright.

Interviewer; Your mother is dead now, how do you feel about that?

Sinéad; I am delighted....that she's dead.

Interviewer; So there is no feeling in you this is a woman you could have loved, might have loved ??

Sinéad; By saying I am delighted that she's dead " I mean that I know that when she would have been alive, she'd be messing up my live. I am also very sorry that she's dead obviously and I don't dislike her as such I dislike what she did, but I do acknowledge that she wasn't well. And I always did love her enough that I forgave her for doing what she did. But I am very glad at the same time that she's gone, and that she's not doing it anymore and that there is no danger that she's doing it to my children.

Interviewer; Can I ask you Sinéad what is it what you hope for, for the next 10 years?

Sinéad; What I really like to see for the next 10 years is that we should really bare to protect our children from the cruelty of the world, that the world is not protecting the children. I think that in the next 10 years people are gonna realize that, and this is just the beginning of the world to talk about child-abuse, that people are gonna talk about that child-abuse is really THE universilation.

At the end of the program Sinéad did sing a song (which she had until now never released or played live) called; "This Is To Mother You". She played it solo with just her guitar. The song is a quiet/slow song like most of her songs lately. Which can be easily compared with "I Am Enough For Myself" and "My Darling Child" (which is the way I like her songs most (now)). AGAIN NEW SINEAD GUEST APPEARANCE ON OTHER CD !!!

(handed by Paul Craner & Sam Warren)

Again they released a cd containing Sinéad vocals. This cd is the Soundtrack a the movie called "Michael Collins" and contains 3 tracks with Sinéad; "Easter Rebellion", "Civil War" and "She Moved Through The Fair". This last one Sinéad already recorded before together with The Chieftains, but this one seems to be different and without the Chieftains.

On "Easter Rebellion" and "Civil War" she is backed by a large chorus. She sings in Gaelic, and only a couple of verses. There is also a large orchestra, as this is, after all, film music. SHLA.

IRISH AID AGENCY PULLS OUT OF CONCERT OVER SINÉAD O'CONNOR

(handed by Ju Nguan Tan)

By Jane O'Sullivan

DUBLIN (Reuter) - Ireland's leading Roman Catholic Church-backed aid agency has withdrawn from a fund-raising concert because it features controversial pop singer Sinéad O'Connor, who once tore up a picture of Pope John Paul on TV. "This is nothing personal against Sinéad O'Connor. But we are dependent on the support of Catholic people and when she ripped up a picture of the Pope, we were deluged with protests here," a source at the aid organization said.

"Many who contribute a pound a week or whatever, were genuinely distressed," the source said. Trocaire said it could not be involved in the concert to mark the first anniversary of the execution of Nigerian civil rights activist Ken Saro-Wiwa because of O'Connor's public anti-Catholic stance. The Dublin-born singer caused a sensation four years ago by tearing up a picture of the Pope during a performance on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" and has been outspoken in her criticism of the church. Trocaire, the Irish word for "mercy," is formally known as The Catholic Agency for World Development and shares a Dublin address with Ireland's Catholic Information Office. Trocaire was not aware that O'Connor was going to be asked to take part in the concert but withdrew when it found out.

"We were not taking a moral judgment, but simply dealing with the practicalities of the situation," the source said. Saro-Wiwa was executed by Nigeria's military government last year and the concert was designed to commemorate his dead and focus attention on the causes he represented. "The decision has been taken in order that this important concert can proceed without distracting from its main purpose, namely to highlight the continuing oppression of the Ogoni people (in Nigeria) and the threat of execution which hangs over 19 Ogoni leaders," Trocaire said in a statement on Monday night. The concert, to be staged in central Dublin on November 10, will take place, a spokesman for other groups organising the fund-raising event said. "The show will go ahead, and we are delighted to have Sinead with us. She is a tremendous Irish artist," he said.
