Sinead In Fight With Taxidriver

(Handed by Henk Landheer and Eduard Verheyen)

Heard on the dutch radio & tv; Sinead was beaten up by a taxi driver in London.

The story: She refused to pay the driver because he ripped her off by driving a wrong way. He charged her for that but sinead knew the correct route also and she said to him that he ripped her off. The driver spit into the face of Sinead and gave her some punches... Sinead gave back a punch before she left his taxi (without paying at all) . They both have reported it to the police.

Limited US releases of the Gospel Oak EP

(Handed by Linda from EMI-USA)

The US Gospel Oak will be release on Tuesday (June 3). There will be 3 different versions:

1. The 6 song EP: "This Is To Mother You", "I Am Enough For Myself", "Petit Poulet", "4 My Love", "This IS a Rebel Song" and "He Moved Through The Fair (live)." This is the primary US "Gospel Oak" version; most stores will carry this version of the EP.

2. A Limited Edition CD EP/3 video VHS bonus pack. This will be available exclusively through Borders (a national record/book retailer in the US). The 3 videos are: "This Is To Mother You" plus 2 performances from Sinead's longform video "Year Of The Horse" which is no longer available. The VHS video has a gold slipcase which is shrinkwrapped to the CD.

3. A Limited Edition 7 track version of "Gospel Oak" that includes a bonus CD with the "Fire On Babylon (extended remix)". The artwork on this package is exactly the same as to primary "Gospel Oak" package, except for a sticker on the front indicating the extra track/CD. This limited edition will be available primarily through smaller, independent (Ma&Pa) stores who buy through Alliance Distribution.

HINT; If you don't wanna buy every release of the Gospel Oak EP, but really want every song she did for this release, there are just two items you should buy; The US-Limited 7 track version as mentioned above, and the Japanese cd-single with a no-where else available version of Fire On Babylon(Eternal Recurrence Mix)

Sinead In Various Magazines

(handed by several people)

Lately Sinead appears in various magazines with interviews or just an article about her;

1) Sinead is in the latest issue of Q-magazine (with Paul MacCartney on the cover). She talks about the new album, and also talks about her 10 favourite CDs.

2) She is also mentioned in the latest issue of "the Rolling Stone" magazine (Jewel on the cover). In a "What's new" section they mention the Gospel oak EP, and some concert dates for the summer.

3) Sinead appeared in a London Magazine entitled "The Big Isssue" from May 1997 (Issue no. 230)

4) One of the best interviews I've ever read is published in Hot Press of May 28th (no 10). This one is really worth the 2 UKPounds it costs.

Jerusalem concert cancelled because of life threaths !!

(Handed by different people incl. Matthias Radestock)

According to some sources the concert Sinead planned on June 21st got cancelled, the official reason is unknown to me, but it might have something to do with the political ideas behind the festival/concert. It would be a festival for peace and the main subject of it will be -seperating Jerusalem. 2 capitals for 2 countries..There are people who do not like this additude and they sent Sinead evil messages that they are planning to kill her. Whether this is for real, and even then whether this is the real reason of cancellation I don't know, but it's a fact that the concert got cancelled.

The following appeared in last saterdays Brittsh newspaper "The Guardian"

Death threat stops singer

The Irish pop star Sinead O'Connor has decided not to appear at a peace concert in Jerusalem next week after receiving a death threat. The threat was received at the British Embassy in Israel just over a week ago by its security officer. "The caller did not give an identity or a motive. He just said that if she came here, she would be killed." the embassy said. Intelligence sources believe the threat was made by far-right Jews.

A Palestinian journalist wrote the next E-mail to me;

I'm a Palestinian journalist from Jerusalem, I'm writing about the death threats that Sinead received from some wacko Israelis. Sinead was supposed to perform on the 21st. of June, as part of a four day festival titled Sharing Jerusalem: Two Capitals for Two States, that is sponsored by Palestinian and Israeli women.According to festival organiser Dafna Golan "Sinead received death threats which said that if she comes under the headline "Two Capitals for Two States" they will shoot her." The festival angered the right wing in Israel, because they believe that they have the right of sovereignty over the Arab East side of the Holy City, that was captured by the Jewish state in 1967, and the occupation if the east side was never recognised by the international community. The Irish ambassador in Israel told Sinead that he himself takes the threats seriously, and he has the right to feel that way, taking in consideration the fact the an Israeli killed the late Israeli prime minister Yitshaq Rabin, a people capable of killing their own prime minister are capable of killing Sinead.

Sinead did the right thing not to come, it wasn't an act of cowardliness, she was brave enough to admit that she's a human being, and a human being with no fear is no human being.I admire her courage, and her motherhood, she was afraid to leave her children to the dark future without a mother.

Sinead, there will always be a next time, when you come and please the hearts of those who couldn't sleep tonight, the ones who love you and were looking forward to seeing you sing in the shared Jerusalem, the Two Capitals for the Two States.

(the Israelian newspapers were filled with admiration for sinead and all said they understand her and are sorry for what had happened).

Sinead sings Bob Marley

Sinead added a song to her standard setlist, the added song is a cover of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" (lyrics). The last minute addition of 'Redemption Song' in Portland, which was only rehearsed a couple of times at soundcheck after Sinead had listened to the CD the previous night on the journey from Providence.
