New Release Info; I Am Not Your Baby

Handed by; James Robert McGuire

Here's a tid-bit of news to whet your appetites: I just got the latest issue of Ice Magazine, the self-appointed "CD News Authority," and it lists what I hope is an accurate release date of September 9th for the soundtrack to Wim Wenders' up-coming film, The End Of Violence, and I must say, hot diggety! Anyone who's been paying attention knows that the aforementioned album is set to include a Sinead/U2 collaboration entitled "I'm Not Your Baby."

Here's what Mark Williams, the CD's executive producer, has to say about the song (as quoted from the article):

Bono and Wim go back several soundtracks. At first Wim didn't really want to use the same musicians he'd used before, but when Bono called him and said, "I have a song I think would be great for the film," of course we became interested. Along the way, the idea came up to have Sinead involved as a way of making it different. She worked on the lyrics a bit with Bono.

There ended up being two different mixes of the song: the first was a bit more straightforward and rock-based. Then Howie B. got involved and did an alternate, trippier mix, which is the one we used in the film. The article then goes on to say that there's no word when -- if ever -- the rock-based mix will surface.

Finally a OFFICIAL Sinead page online !!!

(handed by DP)

I'm not sure wether I like it or not J , but Columbia Records have made a site about Sinead O'Connor. This site can be found on gospel-oak.com (the site got deleted)  . It looks like it will stay there and get updated once in a while, because I has a real (yet small) directory structure. At the moment it includes a biography, 30 seconds of her latest video-clip and 30 seconds of her latest single.

Most interesting is a part of the biography mentioning;

"She followed this up by recording the opening music for "Oh Mary This London," a new film for BBC Screen Two."

Personally I am looking for anyone who can hand me any info about this !!!

BEST OF... Album Release !

The people who have read or heard the Real-Audio interview with Greg Kot (for the Chicago Tribune) do know the next thing, but for the people who haven't heard it; here's some interesting news;

After a question what will happen after the tour is over sinead replied she will record a new album, but as usual it will last about 2 years to release. But coming October there will be released a Best Of album. This album will include 12-14 songs of which "Empire" with Bomb The Bass - Tim Simenon will be one. She mentioned this song because in her opinion (mars-L; AND MINE) this is one of her best songs, which a lot of people haven't heard yet.

Mars-L; This song will probably get a lot media-interest in the UK knowing it's a real clear anti-England song

"Vampire, you're feed on the life of a pure heart
Vampire, you suck the life of goodness
Vampire....From now on I'll call you England
Empire fall man, empire go"

Besides that problably the next songs will be included;

Nothing Compares 2 U
Thank You For Hearing Me
Jackie

The release of this album (released by EMI) is because of the switch of record company (to Sony/Columbia) and this best of album was a part of the deal.

Management change again !!!

(Handed by Ju Nguan Tan)

Rock rebel SINEAD O'CONNOR has teamed up with U2 manager PAUL McGUINNESS and his PRINCIPLE MANAGEMENT team. The move follows O'Connor's split from record label EMI and manager FACHTNA O'CEALLAIGH. O'Connor - once an outspoken critic of U2 - is now going to be promoted in America by heavyweight McGuinness. A source close to the singer says, "Sinead is very anxious to promote her career in America and has been talking to Paul about the two of them working together."

Meanwhile a spokesman for EMI has confirmed that O'Connor looks set to sign an American deal with SONY. O'Connor's career in America has stalled since she tore up a picture of POPE JOHN PAUL II on live TV and was later booed offstage at a Bob Dylan tribute concert in Madison Square Gardens, New York.

Reason of cancellation Rome July 4th.

 As regards the Rome show (july 4th) the promoters came up with a small PA system that would have been adequate for a small theatre, but not for the open air. They kept the crew waiting for hours promising that a better system was going to arrive any minute, but it never did.
