French article about Sinead and a beautiful picture!

You can read a good article about Sinéad in french (but there's a rare picture to those who don't speak french ) written on the newspaper " Libération" , go to http://www.liberation.com/quotidien/portrait/index.html (PAGE REMOVED) and click on O' Connor when you find her name. Good reading !

Butcher Boy Soundtrack

The CD Now site http://www.cdnow.com is already accepting pre-orders for the Butcher Boy Soundtrack. They list March 17th as the expected release date. That's only two weeks from this Tuesday! If they're correct, that is. As far   as artists, they list the following, and I quote: O'Connor/McCormack/ Calvert Goldenthal/Santo & Johnny. It is to be on EDEL American Records.
We've already read reports that Sinead sings the song "Beautiful   Bundoran." She could quite likely also sing the title track, and hopefully many more. We may not have to wait long to find out.

"New" live song on a new album!

In France this week, we can find a great new album called" L'Irlande en scène" that we can translade by " Ireland on stage". All the songs have been performed at the" Point theater" of Dublin, the first song is "Thank you for hearing me" live by Sinéad and it's a different version from the "This is a rebel song" CD single. I find the voice is stronger ( so better).

Mars-L; This album is the French release of the also anywhere else hard to find Irish Release entitled; Gael Force

Butcher Boy songs / Marilyn Monroe

According to the latest copy of uk british film monthly called sight and sound, which has a three-page article on the butcher boy, where they printed a picture of sinead as the virgin mary, and a mention of sinead's casting being richly ironic. They listed the music credits, and apparently, sinead's contributions are the title track, 'The Butcher Boy' (listed as a traditional song), and 'Beautiful Bundoran'.

According to Christian the soundtrack to Butcher Boy only has Sinead singing Butcher Boy.  It's lovely, though. So if you wanna hear the other song you have to buy the movie.

Nice detail about the movie handed by; Tim Brennan who found it on Reuters ;

The Virgin Sinead LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Catholics were shocked when Sinead   O'Connor ripped up a picture of Pope John Paul on ``Saturday Night Live,'' and they may be equally stunned by the Irish singer's upcoming movie role. Writer-director Neil Jordan of ''The Crying Game'' has cast O'Connor as the Virgin Mary in ''The Butcher Boy,'' a dark tale of an Irish boy's descent into insanity. ``She looks like the pictures of the Virgin Mary I remember from my childhood,'' said Jordan. Despite the resemblance, Jordan had first wanted to resurrect Marilyn Monroe for the part using ``Forrest Gump''-style technology but money and legalities got in the way.

Harper's Bazaar Article

     In the new Harper's Bazaar (Fiona Apple on the cover APRIL) there is a full page photo of Sinead (great picture) and this:

Sinead O'Connor

     It would be hard to imagine Sinead O'Connor covering "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" on her new LP (she's not), but the brooding Irish icon admits that she has lightened up a bit since her pope-trashing days. Howver, it's unclear houw John Paull II will feel about O'Connor's appearance as teh Virgin Mary in Neil Jordan's new film, The Butcher Boy.  O'Connor, 31, lives in London with her boyfriend, John Waters, and her two children, Jake, 10, and two-year-old Roisin.  Currently, she is readying songs for the new album, due later this year, and preparing for her tour of duty on this summer's Lilith Fair.  "I'm a bit older now," she says.  "And having a son has kept me in my 'male' for so long.  My daughter has brought out my 'fem' side. Hopefully that shows in the songs."
