Sinéad pregnant again???

"Chit-chat's" are mentioning Sinead might be pregnant again. While performing her Chiquitita version on the Ben Elton Show Sinead gives the physical impression to be pregnant....  REMEMBER; This is NOT even a rumour, it's less then that.

Several old Sinead song found

In the 1989 movie "Hush-A-Bye Baby" where Sinead plays a role you can hear a totally different version (even the lyrics are different) of Ave Maria.

In the 1992 tv-special Coffee and Cigarettes you can hear a small part of an unreleased song, "You'd Be Surprised" which is a cover of a Marilyn Monroe song.

On the 1992 album Silence Running by Max there are several songs that contain Sinead vocals, not just the Morning Time song which was known already. Besides that song the next songs also contain Sinead vocals;
- Hold On
- Power Breaks
- Connected
- Twilight
- 1001 Nights (this one is not 100% sure)

The only one that is very clear is Hold On, on the others you can hear Sinead somewhere in the background vocals.

Crash...news disappeared..

Because of an infamous Windows95 blue-screen crash I lost some news....sorry. After having re-written everything I remembered again.....AGAIN Blue-Screen.... So here's the thirth attempt.

----------------

Accordind to a TV paper Sinead was in Paris on 12 th of May in "Le cirque d'hiver" ( a concert theater) to sing with the french singer Jean Louis Aubert, I don't know if she sang alone or it's a duet. The show will be diffused the 21th of June ( Music day in France) on the channel M6... (when I am right this was handed by Bruno Autin)

----------------

In the June 11 issue of RS with Johnny Depp on the cover, in the Grapevine section the following is printed:

The soundtrack to the upcoming Summer flick 'The Avengers'...contains new songs from....Sinead O'connor....Also included are 2 songs from Ashtar Command - - a project founded by Yum-Yum's Chris Holmes, with guitarist Brian Liesgang, formerly of Filter - that feature vocals by O'Connor and Veruca Salt's Louise Post.  "Sinead was totally amazing" says Holmes.  "When she recorded her vocals, we were pinching ourselves."  Look for the soundtrack on July 7th....O'connor has also begun working on her next album, which she says will be along the lines of last year's Gospel Oak EP.  "It's a very sensual, female album," O'Connor says.  "I'm really into R&B now, stuff like Brandy, All Saints & Missy Elliot.  They're all very sexy sounds."  O'Connor's record won't be out until 1999 at the earliest, but she'll be in the U.S. in June, touring with the Guinness Fleadh Festival as well as performing on several Lilith Fair dates.

Suprise gig by Sinead, singing Chiquitita

Tonight Sinéad did an appearance on (UK) BBC1's Ben Elton Show. She sang "Chiquitita" a cover of the famous ABBA song. This was a one time only performance of this song, just because she wanted to sing a new song and it was the time of year the European Song Contest takes place. (The show where ABBA became world famous).

BTW; SINEAD WEARS HER HAIR VERRRYYY SHORT AGAIN, ALMOST BALD.

Hidden role for Sinéad in The Butcher Boy ??

A little mystery; In the credits to the movie The Butcher Boy Sinead isn't mentioned only for playing the role of The Holy Virgin Mary, but also for the role of Colleen.

Screaming Orphans update

The Screaming Orphans are 4 sisters from Donegal, as most readers know they where the persons backing Sinéad during the tour and other gigs last year.   They have recently signed a record deal (Blue Mountain Records?) - I spoke to one of the sisters last year after Sinead's London gig at The Forum and asked if an album was imminent and she said to expect something later this year.

Danny Boy again

For the people who haven't seen the TV-special about the irish traditional song entitled Danny Boy including Sinead's version of the song; the video can be ordered, not for $100 (bidding price in those days) but for $20 IMHO it's a great program and Sinead's version is superb, only the minor thing is that Eric Clapton and some other dude are talking at some points of Sinead's version, which then turns to the background-sound. Here's the page where to order the NTSC video-tape;

Atlantic contract?? Not everywhere...

Acoording to the new contract Sinéad seems to have signed with Atlantic; Sinead is still with Sony/Columbia in the UK and the rest of Europe.  I can't speak for the American side of things...if she has signed to Atlantic/Warner Brothers then it's for the US market only.

Avengers Soundtrack contains 2 songs by Sinéad.

some surprising news: there are TWO track contributions by sinead on the new avengers soundtrack (label atlantic)! one is the one with brian eno ('emma's song'), and the other with Ashtar Command ("summer's end" and sinead is credited as having contributed "searing vocals.") . This album is set to be released in the USA on June 30th, (other sources mention July 7th).

Sinéad signs Atlantic and leaves Columbia

sinead has apparently signed onto atlantic (which is under warner bros)!! has she left columbia?!

Atlantic Records confirmed that O'Connor has signed to the label and will begin recording a new record over the next few months, probably after her stint on the Lilith chick-fest. While still choosing between producers, studios, etc., the label said they expect an album before year's end. O'Connor had previously been on Chrysalis and a European label, Ensign.

Eurotrash on TV

Shown on "a song for eurotrash" a UK channel 4 tv program on sat.3rd may, "all kinds of everything" featured sinead and terry hall (ex. fun boy three and the specials, and ex-The Colourfield) and was shown in it's entirety, with a moody, black and white video cutting in and out and focusing on each of the artists in turn, while the other lights a ciggie, scratches their head or whatever. probably the best part of the whole song, is that sinead is actually smiling through most of it!!!, so one would assume that she actually enjoyed recording it, which must make a change!! top entertainment on the whole and it would surely walk the eurovision again if sinead decided to enter it!!

Eurotrash is  a British TV programme - it's made by Channel 4, presented by Antoine De Caunes and Jean-Paul Gaultier, and covers all things weird, trashy and European!     I don't know exactly who came up with the original idea to re-record old Eurovision song winners, nor how Eurotrash and Channel 4 got involved, but I saw the programme "A Song For Eurotrash" last week. The song, "All Kinds Of Everything", as covered by Sinead and Terry Hall, was not live. In fact, none of the songs were live.  Their performance consisted of a black and white promo.  Terry was his usual "deadpan" self, but in excellent voice (the song really suits his understated style of singing), Sinead, meanwhile, played up to the humour of it all (if you've heard the original by Dana, then you'll know what I mean!!).   There's a REALLY funny part at the end where Sinead flutters her eyelashes coyly at the camera!!   Trivia fans: At the moment her hair is the longest I've ever seen it and back to its original black.   She was wearing an Adidas T-shirt and a zip-up sweat top It's not the BEST song in the world, so for those of you who haven't yet heard it, don't hold your breath...

A cd of this show has been released on May 4th by EMI cat#: 4950622. More info can be found on the April News Page.

Lillith Fair 1998 CD

The Lillith Fair organisation released a "Lillith Fair 1998" cd, this cd does NOT include Sinead. During last years tour, at the show they sold a compilation cd of all performers (main stage second stage) for the tour that was not live. It is assumed that they are going to do the same thing this year but we may not know what's on it until the tour starts. I remember reading the newsgroup messages and being confused about what they were discussing since there had already been talk about a "live" cd -- this may mean that there might also be a "studio" compiliation of Lilith '98 and then a live one next spring? We can only hope!

Where's The Chieftains new album ?

Back in 1997 there was some news about a coming CD release of another new Chieftains album including a Sinéad song. Back then it was said it would be released in February 1998. Since then no news was given about that album. At the moment the album still isn't released and all that is known is that the album should have been titled "Tears Of Stone" and would have been released by RCA Victor, and that the Sinead song which was recorded for it is entitled "The Factory Girl". This is a song Sinead has done live once or twice during her 1997 tour. This live version can be listened to in RealAudio format by clicking the above mentioned title. Let's hope the album will be released soon.

Why Sinéad probably won't tour Europe

Personally I wondered why Sinéad probably won't tour Europe, someone mailed me a acceptable explanation; "I imagine it is mainly to do with organisation.  To tour in the States for a long enough time to be economically feasible is much easier than in Europe.  It looks like she is dealing with only two promoters over there.  There is the Mean Fiddler Organisation who do the Fleadh events ( which are spreading across the States after the New York one last year) and the Lilith Fair organisers. That's all she needs to be able to pull off a low key tour.   She doesn't need to worry about selling tickets 'cos they are all festivals and all the dates fit in because there are only the two promoters.

In Europe each festival is organised by someone else and there are major logistical problems in getting from one to the other. You can't allow long gaps between each gig, because you still have to pay personnel and at the same time there must be enough time to allow for travel to the next show. This makes a European tour very difficult to organise.  It takes time to set up. If you do your own shows ,local promoters have  to be sure that they will sell enough tickets and they have to hire the venues well in advance.  All very difficult,  especially if all you want to do ( which I think Sinead does) is to go out and do a few gigs over the summer without big problems.  There is no album out so the record company probably won't help.   Therefore she must  be doing it for fun and it has to finance itself.

It's  a pretty good sign for the future I would have thought.  It means that when she next brings out an album she is likely to want to work hard to promote it."
