New song during tour

(handed by Somebody)

During her coming tour Sinead will probably perform a new song she recorded with Donal Lunny, it's doubtfull wether she will start performing it in London, probably the first performance of this song will be in the USA. Also Sinead will probably not guest other singers on the festivals.

Sinead in Radiohead video

In a special on Radiohead they played the video 'Lucky' which is a song found on the 'Help' Cd with Sinead's song 'Ode to Billy Joe'. Near the end of the video they show a bunch of clips of other artists in the recording studio for the CD and they show a short clip (don't blink) of our sweetie.  She's wearing the same smile she had on the back cover of 'Universal Mother'.

Ghostland album info

New Album; Ghostland - Ghostland Ghostland is a collaboration between three working musicians from three different musical disciplines all three are in Sinead's Band;  Caroline Dale, cellist, has worked with The London Chamber Orchestra, The Balanescu Quartet, Nigel Kennedy, Oasis, and played the solo cello that Alan Rickman was seen to perform as a ghost in 'Truly, Madly, Deeply'. John Reynolds, drummer and producer, co-wrote and co-produced Sinead O'Connor's Universal Mother album, and has worked with Jah Wobble and Natacha Atlas. The Ghostland album was recorded in his home. (This John is Sinead's Ex-husband, he wrote a whole lot more for Sinead, and is her longest band member ;-))  Justin Adams, guitarist, also worked with Jah Wobble's Invaders of the Heart, co-writing three ground-breaking albums. He grew up in Jordan and Egypt, and these North African influences can be heard in Adams innovative playing, which veers from muezzin wails to delta slides.

The Ghostland album has been released on East West records early this year. Watch out for live appearances which are definitely not to be missed.

New "Old" song Found

As most fans know there exists a single of Sinead singing the worldwide known song "Silent Night". This cd-single has been released in 1991. But no fan (besides Fernando) knew there also existed a longer version of this song by sinead. This longer version (with an extra verse) can be found on an album by Various Artists entitled "The Ghost Of Oxford Street". This cd was made for a British tv-program where Sinead also is said to show up. (I'm looking for a recording of it!!!!)

Sinead sings Nothing Compares 2 U again

During Sinéad's recent tour she sings Nothing Compares 2 U again, the tour is mainly a "best of" concert including some new songs. It's special that she's singing NC2U again, because years ago she promised to never sing that song again, because she hated the writer of the song (Prince) and don't want him to receive any money for his writing-rights.

Jo Watley Show

Sinead gave was on British tv June 11th. The programme was filmed on the same day as Fleadh - by the looks of her outfit - she was wearing exactly the same clothes. Sinead took part in the discussion part of the programme. She defended Courtney Love, remains adamant in her disappointment of the Catholic church (of course) and says she listens to Bob Marley when she wants to relax. She sat cross-legged on the chair, chain smoking and picking her toe-nails - the presenter actually caught her eating said nails and was horrified!! Sinead's defence was to say that she felt relaxed enough to do this on camera!

Sinead and Chieftains Live

Tonight Sinead opened for the Chieftains at the Mann Music Center in Philly. The show was phenomenal. She played favorites from as far back as The Lion and the Cobra, as well as newer material. For an encore she performed "She Moved Through the Fair." Sinead returned to the stage during the Chieftans' show to perform "Foggy Dew."

David Letterman & Dreaming Of The Bones

Sinead guested in David Letterman today. The night was great, finally the "NEW" Sinead returned again on the stage!! Sinead sang that beautiful song with the "lowpipe" and cello as the most evident accompaniment in the mix. she wore a dark gray cardigan over another dark gray sweater, dark slacks and slide shoes. she wore her nose ring and hoop earrings... She was performing a song "Dreaming Of The Bones" with David Spilane, here's the lyrics of song:

My lonely love......
My lonely love......
What will happen to me...
What will happen to me...
When you are gone..
I'm frightened..
what will God do to me..
what will God do to me..
When I'm all alone...
Child....
I Won't be..
gone...
see I am with you so..
And in your soul..
the calling of you heart..
has brought me home..
Shall I kiss you free...
Shall I give you a taste..
of what I'm dreaming for..
You are my....
Only love...
You are my...
softest love...
my....
only...
only... love.

Davy Spillane Album with Sinead

Davy Spillane (world famous pipes and whistle player) who often plays with Sinead is on this tour with her. She and Davy wrote a song together called "The Dreaming of the Bones" which they played on letterman the other night. Davy's new album "Sea Of Dreams" which will be released in August features "the dreaming of the bones" as well as her now infamous soft version of "Danny Boy", which she did live in boston last wed with the suprise show with Donnal Lunney at McGanns bar in Boston. Davy's record is amazing and Sinead fans should really check it out. Davy wrote it for his father who recently passed away.

Ghostland review

Just an hour ago I received a promo copy of Ghostland's new album entitled simply "Ghostland". It's a great album in my opnion and as I already expected after having seen them live in London the album is worth to buy even with or without Sinead. (Though lucky enough Sinead is on the album very clearly).

Here's some info about the album;

Tracks

1) Blue
2) Cowboys and Indians
3) Float
4) Gamgo
5) Guide Me God
6) Seven Arrows
7) Free
8) Ghostland
9) Your Time will Come

The album lasts about 46 minutes. Produced by John Reynolds. All songs are written by Adams, Dale, Reynolds.

Ghostland are; John Reynolds - Drums & Programming Justin Adams - Guitars Caroline Dale - Cello

1) Blue; This song is infact an instrumental song, though it contains Sinead-vocals as being an instrument by singing "ahhhaaa, ahhaaa....", contains no vocals at all. It's a Clannad like song.
2)Cowboys & Indians; An mainly instrumental (incl. flute) Irish tune mixed up with a little Arabic/Turkish flavour. And also with voice as an extra instrument by Natasha Atlas, though she probably sings in words, but it ain't english or dutch ;-)
3) Float;Same as 2, but less Turkish influences. Piano included, no flute. Ali Slimani is one of the percussionists. At the end it speeds up to go over in track 4
4) Gamgo; A housy beat, with U2 like synths, lots of fast percussion and a violin mixed all together to this great full instrumental song. To end abrupt in a nice piano solo which goes over in 5.
5) Guide Me God; Bomb The Bass/Empire like music, the first song with real lyrics, and they're song by our beloved singer Sinead. Lyrics are mainly "Guide Me God and I will Find You" over and over and "I Always know you're there" and some ahhhahaaa's
6) Seven Arrows; An Ali Slimani percussion song. Not my favorites.......to be honest; Boring.....too much repeatings.
7) Free; After a Boedha-ish bass sound starts the song and a violin joins, the song goes on with a little boy (Jake Reynolds!!! John & Sinead's son) talking softly. The drums enter, and more and more instruments join. Spanish Guitar, flute, Cello..... At the end Jake reads a poem written by himself. "On a dark night in Ireland If you go into Shillelagh wood right in deep you can see the hand of ulster don't you scream or bother him with the cracking of a stick cos he'll chase you to tipperary and back watch out for the queen of the banshees with her pale green skin and pit viper hair and torn golden robe dodge her deafening scream!"
8) Ghostland A Cello and plucking guitar (or is that the cello too?) duet starts this song, strings, piano and drums join during the song. Just instrumental, almost classical music.
9) Your Time Will Come infact this is Part 2 of Ghostland, but it contains Sinead singing several times; Heading Home The Dark Is Over Heading Home The Work Is Done You're Not Alone The Angels Told Me Don't Worry You're Time Will Come (written by John Reynolds)

If you're only in for Sinead this album might not be worth to buy, though Guide Me God might make it worth to buy, but if you like cross-over mixtures of various NON-TOP40 traditional/foreign music, you have to like classical music to really dig the album. Though live the cross-over was much clearer, esspecially because the "instrument-vocals" of Natasha Atlas.

BTW; in the Thank You's of John Reynolds he writes; "Thanks to Sinead & Jake....I Love You"

Yet another album with Sinéad (Sunhouse-CrazyOnTheWeekend)

Almost at the same moment as Ghostland's new album, there's been released another album with Sinead. It's an album by a band named "Sunhouse" and their album is called "CrazyOnTheWeekend". Besides Sinead (song; Hard Sun) also John Reynolds appears on it, and maybe more interesting because a lot of fans were waiting for it, the Screaming Orphans can also be heard on most of the songs.
