July 5 1998 - USA - Columbus (OH) - Polaris Amphitheater - Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair tour

Last night at the Columbus Ohio Lilith Fair I snuck up to the 5th row center for Sinead O'Connor. She was incredible. I was so happy that she played "You Made Me the Thief of Your Heart." It was incredible. And for "In This Heart" she had all 7 band members come out at different parts of the song to join her. It was incredible. She ended with "The last day of our acquaintance" and the two Indigo Girls sang with her. After the concert, because I am familiar with the stage layout, my friends and I snuck backstage. I saw John Reynolds walk out of one of the busses so I knew that was Sineads. I looked into the front window to see her in there. I pointed to my Sinead T-shirt that I bought. I held up my CD covers and I smiled at her. She was so incredibly friendly. She walked up to the bus driver and told him to wait a second. She got out of the bus and signed all of my Sinead covers. I was so nervous I think I thanked her 1000 times. I thanked her for playing "Thief of your heart"! and I apologized for thanking her so much. That's not all that was discussed but that is sure the bulk of it. I guess she was in a hurry so she didn't have time to stay and let me get my nervous chills out. She gave me the cutest, nicest smile after she was done signing my CD covers before she got back into the bus. This smile was a real smile. It wasn't just smile to make her fan happy, it was a smile that said "thank you for being my fan." The fact that she stopped the bus to come out and see me was a "thank you for being my fan." THANK YOU SINEAD for such a beautiful performance and for being incredibly kind to one of your many fans.
